This beautiful young Kite was found lying at the base of a tree on Sunday 14th November on the Totternhoe Knolls and was barely conscious on arrival. It is believed that it had been buffeted into the tree by the very heavy winds the day before.

The poor Kite was a pitiful sight, it was shivering and could not open it’s eyes or even lift its head. It was immediately warmed up and given medication and rehydration fluids to ease its symptoms. It was touch and go for the first night but the bird is now on the road to full recovery. Whilst it was awful to see such a majestic bird in this condition it is so good to see that Kites have made such a successful return to the area and this one is a youngster so clearly they are also breeding well locally.

Follow the progress of our Kite:-

The following day and feeling much brighter after some food.
