Our book, "a beginner's guide to rearing Wild Birds" has been a long time in the making! Every year, we receive hundreds of calls about baby birds! Not all of the people calling are near to a rescue centre and many would be prepared to care for their little orphan if only they knew how.

"Birds are what I think of as my specialist subject"! I'm at my happiest during the Spring/Summer season when I'm rearing orphaned birds and giving them a second chance to have a life in the wild. But when I started this job, one of the big problems was the lack of information available. I spent almost 18 months researching before I ever touched a wildlife casualty and have, over the Years, acquired pages and pages of notes of recipes for rearing birds."

Sam Bedford

We are always on hand to help people care for baby birds and did send out a leaflet to get callers started. However, there are so many different species of birds and complications that could arise that the leaflet became a pamphlet and the pamphlet then became a booklet because we kept having to add information on. Eventually we just decided to get all of the information together that we have gathered over the years and put it in one book.

Finally, after 18 long months of collating information, the book is ready and we do hope it will prove useful to anyone wanting to give our feathered friends a second chance.
