BIRD CAKE

You will need:

• Bacon fat, lard or meat dripping
• Raisins or sultanas, apples or pears, finely chopped
• A handful of bread crumbs
• Grated Cheese
• Yoghurt Pots or margarine Tubs

Empty whatever fat you're using into a saucepan and heat up gently. Add the ingredients and mix thoroughly then add some bread crumbs (just grate a few slices of toasted bread) to thicken the mixture.

Turn the heated mix into yogurt pots or small margarine tubs. Push a twig or knotted piece of string into the mixture and leave in a cool place to harden.Turn out the bird cake and tie to a tree or bird table.
